Cliff Normand, who has conducted extensive research on the Normand family, sent us this about the families who left Ige, Normandy, France for the New World:

The book "nos Origines en France, des D?buts ? 1825, Volume7,
Normandie et Perche" lists the people from Ige (and other areas),
apparently taken from Jette's book. The people from Ige in Quebec include:
      Julien and Pierre TROTTIER
Jacques BEAUVAIS, dit St. Jemme, born 1623 Ige, died 1691 Montreal
      Marie BELHOMME
Catherine (d) and Sebastien (f) DODIERPierre and Roberte GADOIS
Pierre, Louis (f) and Louise (d) GAGNE
Francois, Francoise, Nicolas, and Mathurine, children of Nicolas GOODE and
      Francoise GADOISE
      loi JARRY dit Lahaye
      Jean LEDUC
      Simon LEREAU
      Gervais and Jean NORMAND

Jean (m. Jacquette VIVRAN) and Gervais were half-brothers, not brothers as most books indicate. This is based on the
baptism and marriage documentation that Ted Normand obtained. Gervais'
mother was Radegonde GADOYS. Thus far I have not found anything to tie Pierre GADOIS to Gervais except their name. I have not located any Quebec records where they are recorded at the same event. Obviously, they were probably related.
Another reference from the mortality records of St. Martin in Ige:
Francoise GADOUAS and her sons died 24 June 1632 of the plague. Maybe the plague is what caused some of the people to leave France.

Rev. Rene Detoc, pastor of the church at IGE, France, visited with us in June, 1999, and gave us a tour of the church. He explained that a Siegnor, a landed noble, including the family Bouchard, had recruited families from Ige to go to Canada to work on their plantation. Father DeToc said that they only recruited families of good morals and of high work ethics.

Two placues hang on the wall above the baptism font in the Ige church. One names several pioneers to Canada, including Jean LeNormand. The other was left by the Normand family association of Quebec and names Jean Normand as their ancestors as having come from Ige. About 15 descendants of the Normand family were with us when we visited IGE, part of a tour of French Cities of origins of Avoyelles ancestors.
